Chen Shi Hong was born in 1959 in the city of Jinhua, Zhejiang province. He trained in wushu with his father as a child. He attended the Shaolin Sports School and excelled in the techniques of Shaolin boxing, capture fighting and shadow boxing (Taijiquan). He also achieved outstanding results in sabre, sword and stick fighting.
In the 1980s, he met Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang, the official heir to Chen Taijiquan of the Chen family in the 19th generation, who became his great role model. Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang personally accepted him as a student and led him to mastery. Master Chen Shi Hong is now the successor in the 20th generation of Chen Taijiquan.
He has appeared as an actor in several martial arts films such as "The Power of Shaolin" and "The Holy Beggar", together with Li Lianjie (Jet Li), among others. His outstanding martial arts technique has earned him a great reputation in martial arts circles.
In 1987, Chen Shi Hong accepted an invitation from the well-known Japanese karate master Nagayama Masatosi to teach the art of Wushu in Japan. He worked there for three years as head coach of the Japanese Taiji Association and took a further step in the development of Chinese martial arts in Japan. In 1990, Master Chen Shi Hong came from Japan to Austria and demonstrated his martial art with great success. He has been teaching in Vienna ever since.
In 1991, he founded Austria's first Wushu association (Austrian-Chinese Wushu Association) in Vienna. The members of this Wushu Association travelled to China in 1992, 1995, 1996, 1999 and 2000 on behalf of the Austrian national team, took part in international Wushu competitions and achieved good results for Austria. Master Chen Shi Hong was personally awarded the "Honour for Shadow Boxing (Taijiquan) and Wushu" prize. In 1992 and 1995, Meisten Chen received medals for Taijiquan in Chen style and boxing in somersault style at the International Taijiquan and Wushu Championships in Wudang.
In 1997, the Austrian national team took part in the "4th International Wushu Competition" in Rome under his leadership and his team was recognised as an official member of the Olympic Committee. Master Chen Shi Hong has earned lasting merit through his endeavours to achieve the inclusion of Chinese Wushu as a competition category at the Olympic Games.
In the meantime, the art of Wushu has also been recognised by the Austrian Ministry of Sport. In the same year, the Chinese Wushu Association was founded in Austria.
Master Chen Shi Hong is responsible for the Chinese Wushu Association in Austria in addition to his work as general trainer for national forms, Wushu-Sanda martial arts and Taijiquan.
He is regarded as one of the pioneers for the spread of the Chinese art of Wushu in China, Japan and Europe. Many television studios and newspapers have written reports about him.
He is the honorary chairman of the Chen Style Taijiquan research community in China, president of the International Chen Style Taiji Friendship Association in Tokyo and responsible for the International Association for Traditional Chinese Martial Arts.
With all his heart and soul, he contributes to the spread of Chinese martial arts.
He is the 1st master of Paris Lainas, who represents his successor in the 21st generation of the Chen family and teaches with us.
